Meet the Illustrator: Bethan Woollvin
A picture book is nothing without it’s illustrations and I’m so fortunate to be able to work with lots of truly magnificent illustrators!
When I was asked by my editor at Bloomsbury Children’s Books if I wanted to write a rhyming book about the planets, I jumped at the chance - especially when my editor showed me some adorable illustrations that Bethan had on her website.
We have just published the fourth book in the Meet the World Series, which includes Meet the Planets, Meet the Oceans and Meet the Weather. Our newest title, Meet the Dinosaurs came out on 18 January 2024.
Thanks to Bethan’s unique style and incredible illustrations, this series has become hugely popular, especially with early years educators. Meet the Weather has won some awards and been selected for several accolades and I’m very hopeful that Meet the Dinosaurs will do really well too.
As it turned out, Bethan lives very close to me and we have now become firm friends. She is an amazingly bright, engaging and talented person and it’s been a complete privilege working with her.
