About this book

Albie is an ordinary little boy who has some extra-ordinary adventures!

In this story, Albie and Mum are visiting the horses when it starts to rain. Sheltering in a nearby barn, Albie meets Julia, a young Roman girl. As a parade of chariots passes her house, one of the horses is spooked and gallops off without its rider.

Julia and Albie take a short cut through the town and jump aboard, steering the frightened horses away from a busy market and towards the Hippodrome. But instead of slowing the horses down, Julia encourages them to go faster!

Can the two friends win the race, and help Julia’s dream of being a charioteer come true?

With lots of historical details to spot, this story is a great introduction to Ancient Rome and has a subtle feminist message too! Great for bedtime stories and for early years education!

This is the tenth exciting adventure in the best-selling Albie series.
