About this book

There are so many shapes to discover, why does Bear love squares so much?

Well, SQUARES are nice and even. Their corners are just so. Squares are always just the same, anyway they go!

"But CIRCLES can be friendly, circles are such fun! I'm sure you'll like some circles. Why don't you try this one?"

Can Raccoon persuade Bear to try something different? This story is bursting with character and humour that little ones will love.

A super-fun way for young children to learn about shapes, about trying new things, and seeing the world from other people’s points of view.

We love love love this book! As a teacher, it is great for taking about the properties of shapes, and as a parent, a lovely ending. The children in class enjoyed all the silly things the raccoon was doing. A fabulous new book

This hilarious story is a fantastic tale of friendship with some subtle learning thrown in, and the rhyming text and super-cute illustrations make it ideal to read aloud.

Wonderfully fun and engaging
— My Book Corner
Caryl has cleverly woven facts about shapes into this book so that the learning is secondary to the fun story of friendship. Little E loves books about shapes... and was willing Raccoon on to help Bear see the beauty of all the other shapes too.

The ending is delightful and has a lovely message about seeing the world from another perspective whilst staying true to yourself.
— Picture Book Perfect
A really fun and colourful story that my 3 year old loved. I’ve read it 5 times today and everytime she has shouted BEARS LOVE SQUARES at the right moment all the way through. A great intro to learning shapes, as the characters go through lots of 2D ones. A lovely ending too.
