Illustrator Spotlight: Harry Woodgate

You may have seen Harry Woodgate in the news recently for winning Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year at the prestigious British Book Awards for their book Grandad’s Camper. This was Harry’s first picture books as author-illustrator, and it’s also won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Best Illustrated Book AND a Stonewall Book AwardHhonour from the American Library Association.

As you can imagine, I feel incredibly fortunate and very, very grateful to be working with Harry on our new book, My Small World: Dinosaurs. It’s the first in a brand new series centered on immersive, small-world play.

I’m sure you’ll agree from the cover alone that Harry has done a stunning job and they’ve been a total delight to work with.

Creating books is very much a team effort, involving not only an author and illustrator, but also an editor, designer, sales, marketing and publicity teams. None of my books would be anything without the incredibly talented, creative and dedicated illustrators I work with and I’m always really keen to make sure everyone knows how integral illustrators are to the books I write.

I’ve created a special area on my website, dedicated to the illustrators I’ve worked with, so do head over to find out more about Harry!
